Q & A:
| What's required to volunteer? | Musical experience is desired but not mandatory. A completed Volunteer Application; 2 letters of recommendation; a current, signed City of Coral Springs Release and Waiver Form (if under age 18); and Level 2 Volunteer Clearance Affidavit (fingerprinting at about $40-see below) are required. |
| How do I apply? | Click to apply online and send your signed City of Coral Springs Release and Waiver Form and two letters of recommendation (returning counselors need only mail release form) to: Ms. Nicole Greggs, Camp Director; 4324 NW 67th Way; Coral Springs, FL 33067-3048 by April 15. Please use this Written Counselor Application ONLY if you experience issues with the online application. Thanks! The Level 2 Affidavit is signed later once you complete security screening. |
|
What
is the deadline for volunteer applications?
|
Volunteer Application Deadline is April 15 annually but call 954-868-5515 for availability. |
| Is an interview required? | Depending on your application and enrollment, an interview may be required. Ms. Nicole will call you if needed. |
| Why does MusicMakers! want help from volunteers? | Campers benefit greatly from additional support from volunteers, and volunteers who enjoy music and/or are music education or performance-bound college majors gain valuable teaching and leadership experience for their high school and college resumés. |
| How and when will I know if I am accepted as a volunteer? | Unless Ms. Nicole calls you, submission of this application is considered a commitment to assist for the session(s) you indicate. The online counselor list is usually updated by May 15 annually. You can check your status by visiting www.musicmakerscamp.com under "About">"Meet the Staff" and see if your name is listed under “Volunteer Counselors”. If it’s not & the site has been recently updated, please contact Ms. Nicole via phone 954-868-5515 or email musicmakerscamp@aol.com for clarification. |
| Once I am accepted, how do I get my fingerprinting done? |
ALL COUNSELORS and Staff

be fingerprinted and pass a Level 2 Security Screening in order to work or volunteer at MusicMakers!
within 60 days of and at least 2 weeks before the start of camp. Unless you have
volunteered or worked during this school year (since last summer), you must be
fingerprinted each year.
Go to L1enrollment.com to begin the process. The organization is DCF (Dept. of Children & Families) and the codes are OCA # 10060386Z and ORI # FL 921841Z. LiveScan is the preferred means of electronic fingerprint submission, and UPS Stores have the quickest turnaround time with a cost under $40. The nearest UPS Store to Coral Springs is 1121 S. Military Trail (near 10th Street) in Deerfield Beach, FL 33442 (Telephone 954.725.0655). |

June 14, 2012 and 12:00-5:30pm on Friday June 15, 2012- lunch provided. If you cannot attend these meetings in their entirety, you cannot serve as a MusicMakers! Counselor. | How do I get my volunteer hours approved? | First, read the Service Learning Guidelines & submit the SBBC Volunteer Form form to your school before summer vacation to ensure your school will approve your service with us. Second, complete your Service Learning Log Sheet daily while you are working at camp. Once camp ends, Ms. Nicole or a designee will sign off on your log sheets & you may submit them to your school in the fall. |
| Does MusicMakers! offer paying positions? | MusicMakers! offers a limited number of college scholarships to head counselors who work all 5 weeks of camp, including setup week. Amounts vary depending on enrollment. Ms. Nicole contacts past counselors who have shown exceptional leadership no later than May 31 annually. |
| What will I be doing as a MusicMakers! volunteer? | Counselors can choose either to be an instructional assistant in one of our instrumental labs or to travel with an age group to all of the various camp areas and assist everywhere. Other duties include setting up classrooms, costumes, cleaning, snacks, contests, performing with campers, greeting campers and parents, running games, taking pictures, putting together powerpoints, camper supervision, moving /setting up/tearing down equipment for concerts, assisting backstage with concerts, and in general anything that needs doing. |
