October and September.

Mrs. Greggs- practice CDs (thanks to all who duplicated!); 1st 6 items are soft
(difficult to hear ) due to the digital recorder- you must adjust the volume on
them. Chorus website & bulletin
board are great info sources! Use bulletin board outside of Mrs. Greggs room for
updates. Calender changes-
November rehearsals till 3:30- try to attend Mon Nov 9 and Nov 16
2-3:30 optional for extra credit.
Drop note if need to go at 3:15 . Airport trip is the week of
November 30th. Solo auditions for December concerts make appt, now thru
Dec 1 students can pick a song, doesn’t have to be holiday music.
Leave bikes outside 5th grade hallway by door, or near picnic tables near the
back door. Must be locked
outside. Chaperones needed for 3
events:, airport on 12/4 from 9-2. Evening show Wed Dec 9,
begins at 7, bring recorders. School shows Dec 16th during the day.

Business
A.
Uniforms-
1.
Formal Uniforms have been ordered.
Boys’ will be in soon; girls’ will be in Dec. 4 at the latest. 4 larger-size
extra dresses ordered for the Uniform Bank so girls can trade up if they grow.
Formal Uniform Check Day is Dec. 7
for those ordering new dresses or Nov. 30 for everyone else. Earlier
date due to recently scheduled performances on 12/4 (airport)
and holiday show Dec. 9 at SPHS. Goal=
check everyone we can by Nov. 30 & allow extra time for new dresses to be
hemmed. Reminder- DO NOT CUT dress or pants HEMS!!! Baste stitch or safety pin
only. Hems must touch the top of the toe portion of the shoe.
Girls only- size 7- back order for 5 weeks.
4 XL in uniforms are in the bank.
Call November 20th for a status report on the dresses.

Informal uniform check at
Sing-a-Thon went well… 25 points- Biggest issue=wrong socks. Thanks 4 being
prepared! Rechecks occurred today…
23 of 25 for wrong socks, socks
must be above ankle same color as the shoes.
Blue jeans, new chorus shirts , for airport concert,
informal uniform.

Fall Sing-a-Thon- Fri. Oct. 16 from
2-6:30pm- wrap-up

Volunteers! Grand total just under $2000- awesome in today’s economy! Proceeds
go to children’s accounts & PPSBA
general fund (50%/50%)

MINI-CONCERT - after only 4 rehearsals, overall grade= 78.8% C+-
Strongest areas= bowing together & tone quality; weakest areas = stage presence
(talking between songs, fidgeting, exiting risers quietly). Thanks parents for
your honest feedback! Kids now have data on where they are and where they need
to improve. For 3hrs worth of singing the result was decent, criteria is the
national standards for music education.
3.
Musicianship tests- were returned to
students Oct. 26. Those who scored >= 90% or better move on to study for level
2; those with less than 90% retake level 1 at spring sing-a-thon in February.
Please encourage kids to look over study sheets in chorus notebooks
periodically. Thanks to all who graded!
Six kids scored 100, 20 passed 1st time on the level 1 musicianship
test. Most were C’s or better.

Business
A.
Need of the Month-
colored copy paper; USB key; Crayola fat magic markers; glitter glue.
Wish List- scanner/copier/printer
for music room office.
New books $4000 class set per grade, old books
are from 1998
Try to purchase barred instruments called Orff
instruments (percussion).
B.
Fundraising
1. Upcoming Fundraisers include:
a.
Concert program book Advertisement- winter ad forms will go home Nov. 12 with
Dec. 3 return deadline. Anyone wishing to publish an ad or well-wisher sentence
may do so at listed prices.
Going home 1 week from today, also available from the website.
b.
Recorder sales- volunteer needed to check in daily in Nov. to fill orders- Mrs.
Greggs will train you
letters go home next Wednesday.
We have 30 scholarship recorders for needy students.
Now through December.
Cynthia Shulman agreed to help Ms. Greggs.
c. Applebee’s
Night in Jan./Feb.- School must approve it as does Applebees
C.
Spring Trip: still in the works, stay tuned
Has been approved at school level not district yet,
Will be an overnight trip pending approval
Will need level 2 clearance
only 59 seats 1 for relief driver,
2 for stuff. Only sell 56 seats
48-50 students and 5 chaperones.
Cost @ $150 including food and hotel.
In conjunction with a grade level trip at the school.
Chorus fundraising applies to the trip costs
Date during Tax Weekend over
2 days.
D.
Holiday Concert for PPE Parents & Families- Wed. Dec. 9 at 7pm at SPHS-
choristers
arrive no later than 6:15pm in formal uniforms. Bring recorders, props, and an
unwrapped toy to help local needy children.
Theme= “Winter Wonderful!”
Traditional choral music, music for December holidays, and winter favorites in a
concert/ sing-along format. Help needed- see sign-up sheet.
E.
School Winter Sing-Along shows
Dec. 16- help needed with supervision. Formal uniforms. Same show as Dec. 9.
Both events will be formal; need 85 Santa hats in good condition.

F.
WinterFest Performance at Ft. Lauderdale Airport
week of Nov. 30- chaperones needed
(day trip, level 1 clearance required)- sign up if you’d like to come (no exact
date yet, 1st choice is Dec. 4) Informal uniforms. Excerpts of Dec. 9
show.
