Feb. 4, 2010
Dear Parent,
Hello! On Friday, February 19, 2010, Plantation Park Singers will hold a Spring Sing-a-Thon from 2:00-6:30pm at school. Your chorister will be rehearsing music for 4½ hours, then presenting a free mini-concert for parents at 5:45pm in the cafetorium. Pizza and drinks will be served following the concert at approximately 6:05pm for choristers only. Attire is our informal chorus uniform, which is: long plain blue jeans; chorus t-shirt (we will be getting this to you at the sing-a-thon, hopefully), and white or black sneakers with same color socks (no anklet socks, please).
The purposes of the Sing-a-Thon are: to have fun, to reinforce the basics of singing and learn our music, & to raise funds for our program. To that end, attached is a Sing-a-Thon Pledge Form. We are asking each chorister to earn a minimum of $21 in pledges for this event. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 pledge earners. In addition to this, every chorister who meets his or her pledge goal of $21 will receive one of Mrs. Greggs’ famous “Ooey-Gooey Double Chewy Killer Chocolate Brownies”, and everyone attending will also receive a Spring goody bag. J Pledges may be turned in beginning on Thurs. February 18; all monies must be in by 2pm on 2/19 to be considered for prizes. Please do not send money in earlier than 2/18 as we have nowhere to keep it safe. Please be sure to send all funds in a sealed envelope marked with your child’s name, the word “SING-A-THON”, and his/her chorus folder number. Funds from this event will benefit your child’s personal account, the Plantation Park Singers Booster Association General Fund and the Margie Dellerson Chorus Scholarship Fund.
Attendance at the Sing-a-thon is mandatory for all choristers. Requests for excusal for any part of the event must be submitted by Tuesday, Feb. 16. Acceptable reasons for excusal are: illness; occasional lack of transportation; death in the family; or pre-arranged family event. Free rehearsal passes may not be used. Thank you for submitting notes in advance; knowing a child will be missing makes planning more efficient. Choristers need their chorus notebook, pencil, and either a snack or $1-$2 to purchase a snack from PPSBA. Water will be available from hallway water fountains.
Rehearsal supervision & other assistance is needed during this event! If you cannot attend the PPSBA meeting on Thursday, Feb. 4 & would like to assist, please send in a note, &/or just show up! High school students can earn volunteer service hours; please let Mrs. Greggs know if you have an interested student.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Greggs via email at musicmakerscamp@aol.com or Nicole.greggs@browardschools.com. You may also contact Denise Levin, PPSBA President, at (954) 327-2044.
Thank you so much for your support! See you at the Mini-concert!
Sincerely,
Nicole Greggs

Plantation Park Singers Sing-a-Thon Pledge Sheet
Hello! My name is ________________________________________, and I am a singer in the Plantation Park Elementary School Chorus. Our group has performed for local, state, and national level music education conferences, as well as sung the national anthem for Florida Marlins baseball games. The Plantation Park Singers have presented programs for local senior citizens’ homes, served as a demonstration group for nationally recognized choral clinicians such as Dr. Henry Leck, and appeared at Disney’s Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, Islands Of Adventure, Broward Convention Center, Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Florida Atlantic University, and War Memorial Auditorium. Since 2006 we have consistently earned Superior Ratings, 1st Place, and/or Grand Champion Overall at the MUSIC USA Festival at Universal Studios, Orlando, and we are looking forward to another great trip this spring!
To offset some of our expenses, we are holding a Sing-a-Thon on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 2:00-6:30pm. We are going to rehearse our music for 4½ hours straight, give a mini-concert to showcase our achievements, and end the evening with a pizza party to celebrate our musical progress!
To help the Chorus, my goal is to earn $21 or more in pledges for this event. Will you please sponsor me, either by the hour (minimum $.50 per hour) or through a simple donation of $2 or more? If you decide to help, please give your donation $$$ at the time of pledging. All pledge money is due to Mrs. Greggs, our director, by 2:00pm on the Sing-a-Thon date.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TURNING IN MONEY FOR CHORUS:
PLEASE DO NOT TURN IN LOOSE CASH!
(Why? Because it gets lost or separated from the paperwork it goes with, and then we don’t know whose it is!)
All monies (cash or money orders made out to PPSBA) should
be placed in a sealed envelope with your child’s name, teacher, & chorus
folder number written on the outside. You may also wish to write what the
money is for on the envelope.
If there is a form that goes with the money, please
put it in the envelope also, or staple it to the outside of the sealed
envelope.
If you are submitting a money order & your last name is
different from your child’s, please write your child’s name on the memo line
of the money order.
NO CHECKS ARE ACCEPTED BY PPSBA.
For Sing-a-Thons, cookie sales, or ad sales, whenever possible please submit
ONE MONEY ORDER OR A COMBINATION OF LARGER BILLS for the entire amount of your
child's fundraising efforts.
If you have any questions, please contact
Mrs. Greggs, Joanne Wright, PPSBA Treasurer, or Denise
Levin, PPSBA President.
Thank you for your help!
