CONSTITUTION
of the
Plantation
Park Singers Boosters Association
(Established
September 1996; last revised November 2003; last revisited March 2010)
Article I:
Name
1. This association shall be known as the Plantation
Park Singers Booster Association (hereafter known as the Association).
2. This Association will include the parents, friends,
& music director of the
Plantation Park Singers Chorus.
3. The principal meeting place of this Association shall be in the
Plantation Park Elementary School Music Room, or at any other place that the
board of directors may appoint or the activities of the Association may require.
Article II:
Purpose
1.
To promote & encourage community/area support of the Plantation Park
Elementary School music department, especially the Chorus, with the following
objectives:
a.
To involve the community in supporting the music department.
b.
To supplement school board support of music activities.
c.
To provide financial support for non-school activities.
d.
To encourage students to participate in the activities of the
Association.
e.
To encourage music department exposure.
2.
To provide financial assistance & services for the music department and
to all supportive units as may be added.
3.
To aid in the development of student interest.
4.
To promote student leadership & responsibility.
5.
To arouse and maintain an enthusiastic public interest in all phases of
the music department.
6.
To cooperate with those in charge of the music department & the school
board to the end that the school music department maintains the highest possible
degree of efficiency.
7.
To bring into closer relationship the home & school, that parents & the music department may cooperate intelligently in all phases of the school’s
music program.
8.
To aid the music program in such manner as members of the Association & the music director shall deem fitting
& proper.
9.
To stimulate student & community interest in appreciation of the school
music program.
10.
To promote & encourage student cultural improvement through
appreciation of fine music.
11.
To actively support all performances of the school music program.
12.
To lend all possible support, both moral & financial, to all music
programs at Plantation Park Elementary School.
13.
To serve as a means of communication to keep parents of the Plantation
Park Singers informed as to the activities & projects of the Chorus.
14.
To provide for the Plantation Park Singers those things over & above
those which are provided by the school board, such as:
a.
Extra activities throughout the year.
b.
Refreshments.
c.
Banquet or end-of-year party.
d.
Awards, in keeping with school policy & approved by the executive board
& the music director.
e.
Funds for any projects, activities, or trips that might be proposed & approved.
15.
To make all plans & carry out fundraising for support of activities & projects.
16.
To assume responsibility for publicity covering any activity or project
sponsored by the organization.
17.
To maintain enthusiastic interest in music department activities in
cooperation with the music director & the school administration.
18.
To work with & assist the music director.
19.
To aid in the improvement of all music programs at the school through a
better understanding of the goals & the purpose of the music department & to
give moral & financial assistance whenever possible.
20.
To assure that music interests are represented & considered in School
Improvement Goals, thereby ascertaining that music remains a vital area of
learning at Plantation Park Elementary School.
Article III:
Structure
1.
Under the provisions specified in the bylaws, this Association shall be
governed by the elected officers, the executive committee, & the membership,
with the cooperation of the school music director.
