Plantation Park Singers Uniform Information 2008-2009

Dear Chorus Parent(s):
Thank
you for joining the Plantation Park Elementary Choir! We are looking forward
to this year’s upcoming performances. We need to get the formal uniform in
place as soon as possible. The following pages explain how to order your
uniform items.
Young ladies will wear the Harmonique Black Dress at $56* (sizes 7 to adult- includes shipping & handling- see note by dress picture). Young men will wear Tuxedo Pants & White Shirt at $40.00 (with shipping & handling). The school will loan boys the green bowties & cummerbunds before each performance & re-collect them afterwards. To assure proper fit, a formalwear company will come to the school during rehearsal in Sept. & properly size boys for both pants & shirts. If PPSBA cannot fit your child with items from the uniform back, payments for new dresses & tuxedo items are due by Thurs. Sept, 18 ( CASH OR MONEY ORDER ONLY).
Once items arrive at school, we will distribute them to your choristers. Please make any alterations by Dec. 4, 2008- formal uniform check day. Please call Mrs. Greggs if you need the name of a seamstress.
Shoes are available from our uniform bank for free or at Payless (please see attached information). PLEASE PURCHASE YOUR CHILD’S SHOES ON YOUR OWN AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE, BEFORE STOCK DWINDLES. It is wise to purchase at least ½ size larger than your child currently wears so that shoes will still fit by the end of the year! Girls will also need black knee-hi’s, & boys will also need black dress socks. NO ANKLETS SOCKS OR KNEE-HI'S. Since the shoes have not changed from last year, you may wish to check the Uniform Bank before making a purchase.
FORMAL UNIFORM CHECK
DAY IS DECEMBER 4, 2008. On that day, the Uniform Committee will check
each child’s complete formal ensemble, including:
· Girls- Black Harmonique dress (ordered through PPSBA;
HEM MUST TOUCH TOP OF TOE SECTION OF SHOES); black
knee-hi’s; black Mary-Jane shoes (must be specified brand as
per this letter).
· Boys- Tuxedo ensemble (ordered through PPSBA;
HEM MUST TOUCH TOP OF TOE SECTION OF SHOES); black dress
socks; black dress shoes (must be specified brand as per this
letter).
Each child will receive a letter summarizing the status of his/her uniform.
Problems need to be fixed by Uniform Recheck Day (DEC. 11), or the
child will not be allowed to perform.
**EVERYONE
MUST RETURN THIS FORM, EVEN IF LAST YEAR’S UNIFORM STILL FITS!

FORMAL AND
INFORMAL.
IMPORTANT!!! All choristers
need to acquire
both
uniforms.
***IF YOUR UNIFORM STILL FITS FROM LAST YEAR, YOU STILL NEED TO SUBMIT THE FORM ON THE PREVIOUS PAGE SO WE KNOW YOU DO NOT NEED TO ORDER ANYTHING. ***
The informal uniform (plain, straight cut long blue jeans w/no holes or decorations, current year's chorus t-shirt*, white sneakers with white socks -or- black sneakers with black socks), is worn for less formal appearances such as Sing-a-thons, caroling or traveling in theme parks.
(*Note- the Chorus t-shirt is to be worn for performances only, not as part of your child's daily wardrobe. If a child stains or loses it, then needs it late in the year for a performance, we do not have extras. One t-shirt is covered by your $20 registration donation.)

before purchasing items- we have
tons of dresses, pants, tux shirts, & shoes in varying sizes we want you to use
them! Why spend money if you don't have to? Most pieces are in like-new
condition, they are FREE. We only ask that if you borrow it now, you
keep it in excellent condition return it when the year ends.
We allow children who donate items that no longer fit to have first pick
from the bank, but after that, anyone can come in & get what they need...
FREE. The uniform bank is housed in the music room. Call or email Mrs.
Greggs if you can't come by we'll see if we have your size. We will also
make arrangements for your child to try on whatever it is you need.
You may also want to contact families whose children have participated in
Chorus in the past but are not singing this year. They may be willing to
sell or give their items directly to you.
If your child is a returning chorister, be sure to check that your
child's old shoes fit, if they don't, send them in to the Uniform Bank. If
we can, we will trade you for a larger size. If we don't have a larger size,
see info. below on where to purchase new shoes. Thanks!
FORMAL UNIFORM CHECK DAY is Thursday Dec. 4, 2008.
· PLEASE SEND YOUR CHILD'S ENTIRE FORMAL UNIFORM TO SCHOOL IN A BAG WITH HIS/HER NAME ON IT. THIS INCLUDES: BLACK PANTS, WHITE TUXEDO SHIRT, BLACK SHOES, & BLACK SOCKS for boys, BLACK HEMMED DRESS, BLACK KNEE-HIGHS, BLACK MARY JANE SHOES FOR GIRLS. HEMS MUST TOUCH THE TOP OF THE TOE AREA OF THE SHOES. NO ANKLET SOCKS OR KNEE-HIGHS!!!!
· CHILDREN WILL CHANGE INTO UNIFORMS AFTER SCHOOL & BE CHECKED BY A TEAM OF PARENTS.
· YOU WILL RECEIVE A NOTE INDICATING WHETHER YOUR CHILD'S UNIFORM WAS ACCEPTABLE. IF IT WAS, GREAT- YOU ARE SET! IF NOT, PLEASE MAKE ANY CORRECTIONS & SEND THE UNIFORM AGAIN ON THURS. DEC. 11.
· REMEMBER- CHILDREN RECEIVE 25 POINTS FOR BEING PREPARED ON UNIFORM CHECK DAY- PLEASE DON'T FORGET!!
INFORMAL UNIFORM CHECK WILL BE HELD at the Fall Sing-a-Thon Oct. 10. At check-out that night, YOU SHOULD RECEIVE A NOTE INDICATING WHETHER THE INFORMAL UNIFORM IS ACCEPTABLE. PLEASE NOTE- THE MOST COMMON ISSUE FOUND IS WHITE SOCKS THAT ARE ANKLET INSTEAD OF CREW-STYLE. NO ANKLET SOCKS, PLEASE. THANKS!
